This is the Valentine I designed for my husband. It's a grey, cloudy day here in Alberta, so the photo is kinda dark, even with the software correction, but you get the idea. I think this is a perfect representation of the two of us - he is solid, strong and loves clean design while I love details, color and a bit of sparkle.
This is a 5 3/4 inch square card done in Stampin Up dove grey cardstock. Next, is a black layer cut 1/4 inch smaller.
A piece of grey card, along with a second small strip, were embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. Then they were trimmed to eliminate any un-embossed (is that a word?) areas. The strip on the left was adhered first, then the full piece to the right. The seam was covered with a piece of satin ribbon, and a small knot of ribbon topped it off.
The sentiment was stamped with black Versa Fine on Stampin Up Whisper White and heat embossed with clear powder. A small Spellbinders die was used to cut it down to a good size, and also to create the under layer. The shapes were cut about in half, adhered and the cut side tucked under the ribbon.
The Michael Strong heart stamp was stamped in Versa Mark, then heat embossed with pink powder. The stamp was inked with Versa Fine in black, and heat embossed with clear. The hearts were hand trimmed, mounted onto the opposite colors, and again trimmed.
After adhering the hearts, a dot of Stickles was added to the centre of each embossed heart still showing. I few self-adhesive crystals topped off the stamped heart.
