Pretty Baby

How sweet is this little card? And so easy!

The template is available from Stampington & Company. You simply print it out, cut it out and then trace onto cardstock.

I made a couple of changes. After printing, I snipped the front and back apart at the shoulders. Then I put each piece on my scanner/printer and enlarged it 200%. I then took those enlarged pieces and reconnected the shoulders. I made a tidy neck hole with the smallest oval in the Spellbinders set.

I then traced the dress onto a 12" sheet of Blush SU cardstock. I extended the lenth of the back right to the edge of the page for stability when standing the card up. I embossed the front of the dress with a Cuttlebug embossing strip.

The Apron is traced from the original back piece (enlarged) onto embossed, colored vellum. The Collar was cut from plain vellum from the Elegant Edges cartridge, <eyelet1> oblong at 4" default. The I cut this piece, the long way, about 1/3 off. I then embossed the collar with the Swiss Dot Cuttlebug Embossing Folder.

The pendant was printed onto SU cardstock, then cut with a SU 1 3/8 inch circle punch, and mounted it onto a scalloped circle cut from the Blush cardstock.

Ribbon and pearls finished the look.

I plan on visiting Stampington too see what I can purchase in appreciation for the use of this sweet little dress.

1.      Cut Petallics cardstock at 7 1/4 x 10 1/2 inches, score to create card 5 1/4 x 7 1/4 inches;

2.      Cut SU cardstock for background layer at 5 x 7 inches;

3.      Cut Stardream cardstock for next layer at 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 inches;

4.      Cut two scrolls with the Dutch Irish Die from the SU cardstock, and clip each in half;

5.      Cut strip across watercolor paper at 5 inches. This will give you more than enough paper to create your distressed background. With extra paper you can choose your favourite part of the results, and have some left over for a sentiment or tag;

6.      Swipe Distress Ink pads directly onto watercolor paper. Use colors: Frayed Burlap, Antique Linen, Scattered Straw, Old Paper;

7.      Spray paper with water. Colors will react with water. The paper will curl, but don’t be alarmed. Dry paper with hair dryer or heat gun and it will flatten;

8.      Ink Word Background with Vintage Photo and stamp onto watercolor paper. Trim paper close to stamping, reserving left-over paper. Sponge edges with more ink;

9.      To make distressed background closer to the size of the bronze background layer, cut watercolor paper in half horizontally. Cut 1 inch strip of SU cardstock and attach each distressed layer, overlapping on long edge of strip by 1/8 inch. Trim SU strip on edges. Cover SU paper with strip of ribbon;

10.  Stamp sentiment on piece of distressed leftover with VersaMark and heat emboss. Trim to appropriate size. Cut piece of Stardream slightly larger. Cut SU cardstock with Lattice Rectangle. Adhere layers;

11.  Stamp 3 sizes of Wildflowers with Vintage Photo. Swipe Distress Ink across in Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Forest Moss. Cut out flowers. Spritz with water to blend colors. Partially dry with hair dryer or heat gun. Then scrunch flowers, open and shape. Set aside to dry. Pierce each flower in the centre and connect with a brad;

12.  Make bow;

13.  Assemble all layers.

Easter Embossed

This card features my very favorite cardstock - Stardream metallics. The card measures 7 1/4 x 5 1/4".

The middle layer of cardstock was cut at 7x5" and ran through the Cuttlebug with the Swiss Dot folder. I removed the paper from the folder and replaced the portion of the paper yet to be embossed back in the folder, being careful to line up the dot pattern.

Spellbinders dies were used to cut the next layers, with the big scrolls at the bottom coming from the Heartfelt Creations Dutch Iris collection. All die cuts were embossed after cutting.

The Inkadinkado greeting is stamped in Distress Ink Tumbled Glass. A few faux pearls and a bit of white ribbon finish off the design.
