Masculine Birthday Cupcake
This card was created in response to the Dare to Get Dirty Challenge for members of the Fan Club at Splitcoaststampers. Check it out to get in on all the fun!
My brother will be the recipient of this card. Don't you find masculine cards a bit difficult? My natural crafting thoughts seem to go to girly things - go figure. So I have to work to come up with something good for a man, but I'm happy with this color and design combination. Here's how it came together.....
Start with a 5 1/2 inch card cut from Stardream Metallic Cardstock. Add a 5 inch square in a contrasting color. Cut a 4 3/8 inch square from the base color. Cut a die shape, just to the left of centre, and then run through the Cuttlebug Swiss Dot embossing folder. Cut a small Edgeabilities border with Spellbinders in a third color and attach to the right of the embossed piece, and adhere all to the card front.
Stamp both images from the My Favorite Things It's A Cupcake Kind of Day in Momento Rich Cocoa. Color the one image with Copics (E21, E23, E25). Apply a piece of Scor-Tape just over the icing and sprinkle on microfine glitter (warm highlights). Color the cherry from the second image and color with R29, allow to dry, cut out and adhere to cupcake. Cut a small oval with Spellbinders in the third color. Add a smaller oval in the centre and emboss all. Adhere saucer and cupcake to card.
Stamp sentiment, heat emboss and trim. Cut and trim label from third color. Adhere to card front.
Looks good enough to eat!
