Semper Augustus Tulips

This might be my most favorite project - ever! After practicing the feathering and blending techniques in Marianne Walker and Colleen Schaan's Copic Coloring Guides, I've been trying a lot of different color blendings. I knew the Heartfelt Creation's Semper Augustus Tulips would be a great image for this technique. Don't hesitate to try blending outside color families, you'll be excited by the results.

This is a 5 3/4 inch square card, done in Stardream Metallic Cardstock. Stampin Up cardstock is the green layer, and American Crafts makes the purple that I used to cut Heartfelt Creations intricate lace die.

I used the wrinkle free distress technique to get such an interesting background piece. Simply sponge on Scattered Straw, Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick, Dried Marigold, Milled Lavender and Dusty Concord Distress Inks in a random pattern. Spritz with water to start the magic blending of color that Distress Inks are famous for, and allow to dry completely.

I stamped the tulips on X-Press It Blending Card with Memento Rich Cocoa, and colored the tulips with the following Copics:
YR20, 21, 23
R81, 83, 85
YR000, 00, 01, 02

A Spellbinders oval and Heartfelt Creations Dutch Iris leaf die completes the pieces. Finally, add dots of Lavender Liquid Pearls, and call it done - fabulously!

Here's a peek into the inside of the card, done with another image from Heartfelt Creations' Semper Augustus Tulips and Stamp Up's Three Little Words.
